This past summer I had the opportunity to attend the Rural Environments Field School through the University of Colorado. It is a three week course placed in the San Luis Valley and New Mexico. The course is designed for artists to understand the intersection between the rural environment and art.
Remembering home is a photo series that I created during the last few days of this class. At first I hung the photographs on a storage container, but due to the wind it blew all of the images off. It was quiet an experience, trying to exhibit my photographs in a rural landscape. For the photo series I photographed the empty landscape against an abandoned ranch home that I found. I wanted the diptychs to reflect how human beings remember their home and how that memory is constantly changing.
